Book suggestions

Post by Julia J 1 »

Hello, I would like some book suggestions for Romance novels that aren't erotica but also not aimed at a teenage or child audience.
Preferably a not so cheesy plot. I am open to suggestions of books with good romance but aren't soully a romance book.
Thank you.

Is fantasy/sci-fi out of the question?

No, not at all, I'd love a fantasy/sci-fi recommendation.

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately I have already, I'm looking for perhaps newer fiction or books that are not so well-known

Nalini Singh's Psy/Changeling series is really good. They can be fairly explicit, but they aren't erotica. There's an overarching storyline across the entire series (which is not done yet), but every book focuses on a different couple.
The world building is kind of a mix of fantasy (shifters, psychic powers, etc.) and sfi-fi (heavy use of tech).
It does often use the 'virgin' trope (I know that's a deal breaker for some people), however it's just as often men as it is women, and is fairly necessary due to the mythology of the world.

She also has another series that I also love. Her Guild Hunter series is angels and vampires, doesn't use the dreaded trope, and has about the same ratio and level of explicitness.

Historian fiction Salt to the Sea has a great love story but it is not the main aspect of the book.
Some classic great love stories - Quo Vadis by Henryk Sienkiewicz and Rebeca by Daphne du Maurier.
And also the amazing book is Random Acts of Heroic Love. Recommend them all!

Okay I am not sure if you are into royal romance or if you find that cheesy. But in case you are I would recommend The Betrothed and The Betrayed by Kiera Cass series.
