It is certainly a cultural thing, because Western writers have been in the forefront for ages, given Western centrism today. I would recommend Ocean Vuong, Banana Yoshimoto, Shirley Geok-lin Lim, Arundhati Roy, etc. I hope you enjoy them.Bigwig1973 wrote: ↑18 Sep 2020, 01:55 Why does it seem as if there are so few Oriental and Hispanic/Latino, etc. writers? Other artwork from those areas is often fantastic and I have often been baffled by this. I like Amy Tan but I haven't heard of many other Asian writers. Is it a cultural thing, I wonder. A religious issue? Political?

- Latest Review: Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi
It's about a girl who immigrated to the USA together with her parents.
They thought living in a new country was easy.
Despite her age and limited English vocabulary, Mia worked in a hotel as a front desk manager to help her parents.
Over time, she pursued learning the language and made some friends at school.
It's a great read for first generation expats.
