Anything Mircea Eliade or Ioan Petre Culianu ever wrote. They were both historians of religion, culture and philosophy. Mircea Eliade specialised in yoga and Hinduism (he wrote essays, short stories and novels). All of his literary work has a puzzle-like form, so you need to know quite a bit about philosophy and hermeneutics to understand it. But regardless of that, his books are entertaining, beautifully written, captivating - simply fascinating.
Here are some titles: Images and Symbols: Studies in Religious Symbolism, The Sacred and The Profane, History of Religious Ideas: From the Stone Age to the Eleusinian Mysteries, The Forge and the Crucible: The Origins and Structure of Alchemy, Images and Symbols: Studies in Religious Symbolism,Occultism, Witchcraft and Cultural Fashions

I'm a huge fan of Rudolf Steiner, specifically his book How to Know Higher Worlds. It's written in a list-like format similar to other metaphysical books written in the early 1900s. Charles F. Haanal's The Master Key System is wonderful as well.
