Lesbian Lit

Post by elphochan »

Hey guys. So this is a sensitive topic, but I've always had a hard time finding LGBTQ representation in novels. I'm looking for recommendations of YA romance, historical fiction, or true stories in particular where the main character either identifies as lesbian/bisexual or is involved in a same-sex romance. I love romance books, but I'm getting bored with the typical girl meets boy and falls madly in love scenario. As a woman who identifies as bisexual, I crave more varied love stories and situations, especially in fiction. Book I've already read include:

-Intertwined Souls Series by Mary D. Brooks
-Bucket Full of Stars by Penny Cavanaugh
-The Wraith Trilogy by Arielle Strauss
-We Came Alive in '75! The Pat and Mary Lee Story by Pat Deihl
-Huntress by Malinda Lo
-The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman
-Aimee & Jaguar: A Love Story, Berlin 1943 by Erica Fischer

And that's it, really. If anyone knows of any with witches would be a bonus cause witches are my jam.

Have you tried Patricia Highsmith's 'Carol'?

Are you familiar with Less Than Three Press? All of their books are focused on LGBTQIA characters. They are also not your typical romance books. Some of them are, but others are science fiction, fantasy, space operas, werewolves, fairy tales, you name it! I adore their books and the authors who write them.

I've read these books all thanks to movies based on them:
1. Carol by Patricia Highsmith
2. Fingersmith by Sarah Waters
3. Notes on a scandal by Zoë Heller
4. Desert of the Heart by Jane Rule
Carol is my most favorite one and highly recommended!
