Book first most of the time because then you can see it first how you see it. Also you can get the whole story first and just how characters are and all.

I see the movie first, if it is already out there. However, if I come to know about a movie being made on a book early on, then I try to go for the book first.

I use to think reading the book first was better until I saw season 1 of American Gods then went ahead to read the book afterwards and found out it was better that way, if I read a book first I tend to have a negative view of the movie since directors tend to cut out large chunks of the books

As a rule movies are always worse than a book because they cannot show all those emotions and feelings. Of course there will be some special effects in the movies to make it more inreresting, but reading a book you can be a part of everything that is being described in it.

So definitely the book first.

Most of the time, I prefer to see the movie first, so that I can see the character while reading.

I think it kind of depends. For example, I read the book Unbroken. I saw the movie afterwards and the movie did an ok job but it felt different for some reason. I watched the movie Horse Whisperer first then read the book when I found out later there was one. I liked the ending of the movie better. The ending of the book this time ruined it for me.

I'd say book first but I tend to be disappointed whenever I watch a movie adaptation of my favorite books.

I like reading the book first. This way the book's ending isnt ruined and I can better judge the movie.

Either way is okay but I would prefer to read the book so your imagination could take off =D
I agree with this! But when the book is really good, you end up disliking the movie as there is always some detail that you wish could have been better in the movie.

I have always been partial to the book since it has the original story. I would like absorb the story, raw, just like the author meant it to be. I make it a habit to read the book/books before watching a film adaption of it.

I always read the book first, if I am going to read it at all. If I watch the movie, I rarely go back and read the book afterwards. The movie changes enough of the story that I would rather read the author's version first and then see the movie to compare the differences. Movies have so many restrictions and books can be read multiple times, each time finding new material, or just enjoying the story again without spending more money like seeing a movie again, unless of course you bought it.

Book First, I like to see what my mind has visualized it as, and then see the movie to get another interpretation. 50 shades of grey for example. Jamie Dornan said some dialogue a certain way that was extremely different than what I thought up, and I was like OHH! That's alot Hotter than I imagined it.

The whole hangover hotel and elevator scene played so different in my head lol

Either would do, it depends on which comes first.
