For me, it is definitely read the book first. The books are always better than the movies. I also like to watch the movie after I read the book so I can compare them.

Naturally, the first thing you need to read a book, otherwise subjective perception of the director can affect the whole course of events. You need to independently read and understand what the author of the book wanted to say.

If the movie is already there, I'd be too curious not to watch it; but most of the times i usually read the book first. :techie-studyingbrown:

I actually prefer to read the books first. But there is a case wherein I watched the movie first then found out through a friend that it was adapted from a certain popular young adult novel.

I love reading the book first, so that I can imagine the events that take place before I see someone else's rendition on a screen. The best part of reading is the power to create the images in your head; it connects you to the book. In fact, I have started reading Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie since it will be coming to theaters.

I prefer reading the book first then watching the movie later because of the times the movie usually has some added twist to it

Definitely book first. Besides, the flick is never as good as the book in most cases.

I usually read the book first, but if it's part of a series then I might check out the movie first.

Oh this is definitely book first. The books are always way more detailed then watching the movie brings to life those visuals you were imagining. With harry potter I read all the books first before the movies same with the Dan brown series.

Whichever comes first, I guess,
though after watching the movie it's almost impossible to read the book

Definitely the book first. In my opinion the book always has a depth that movies do not. An actor can only do so much to convey inner thoughts. While in a book I can read the inner conflict of the character and know the reasons behind actions. Movies are great though. It is always interesting to see how a book was interpreted and to see someone's imagination come to life. Book first then the movie is the wa to go.

Book first. Too many good books turned into bad movies.
