I still remember the traumatic experience of watching The House of the Spirits after reading what is still today one of my favorite books ever. Horrified.

But I'm often setting myself up for disappointment, as the book is often more rich and can develop characters more fully than a movie ever can. Perhaps I should see the movie first, and then read the book. That way I could finish on a sweet note
