Eragon, Percy Jackson, Hunger Games, the Hobbit... I could go on, but these are my most passionate ones.

A Song of Ice and Fire has been rendered a disservice by the Game of Thrones TV adaptation, in my view. Especially the later seasons which have no real source material to work off (and it shows).

That said, I suppose we have to take account of the fact that TV and film are different mediums from the written word. Consequently, distortion is inevitable. Furthermore, familiarity with one version leaves you with inflated expectations of another version. Effectively, we often set ourselves up for disappointment as a result.

Are you serious?! I thought I was watching the 'prude-friendly version' because of the site I was on, and I spent ages trying to find the uncut version. When I couldn't find the 'proper one', I gave up in a hissy fit. I really wanted to see that elevator scene. :lol2:

Percy Jackson. It ruined a brilliant series written by Rick Riordan. It could have been a great movie, but was ruined by bad acting, wrong casting decisions and terrible screenplay and direction.

Maybe that isn't a very popular opinion, or generally not a very popular movie... but the Russian movie based on The Headless Horseman was a disaster. It was dreadful to see one of my favourite books turned into THAT

My kids agree with the sentiment regarding Eragon. But not Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. They love all these books. But were very disappointed in Eragon. I'm just glad they love reading. We limited TV time, especially when they were young and it has paid off.

I totally agree with you. The books were great and I love them however the movies were nothing like books. I remember reading the first three books before the first movie came out; I was actually excited to see it. After watching that I debated whether to even read the fourth book because the movie had ruin my experience for the whole series. If I could do it all over again I would read the books and not watch any of the movies.

I agree with the Divergent series and Fifty Shades of Grey.

The Hunger games but mostly the Percy Jackson the lightning thief was extremely bad the way they made actors in their 20s act as middle school children just destroyed the whole movie for me.

The Hobbit. Definitely The Hobbit. They never should have made it three movies. I would also agree with the Shannara Chronicles and I'd like to also add The Mortal Instruments both the show and movie adaptations.

Ender's Game. The book is so great. The movie is terrible and makes no sense.
