Icon Anyone Excited For The Crazy Rich Asians movie?

Post by KittsyKat »

Just thought this should be brought up. I've read all of Kevin Kwan's "Crazy Rich Asians" series and am so stoked for the movie coming up. The whole story of extravagant sights and crazy Asian dilemmas are so relatable for me as a half asian, that I can't wait to see the directors perspective of the book. Is there anyone else that's just as stoked as me? Do you have expectations or worries since it's coming out as a film?

I have never heard of "Crazy Rich Asians" but it sounds like it is going to be an interesting one, maybe like "Fresh Off the Boat"?

Based on the previews seems fairly predictable! Only has hype because of the all Asian cast, which makes it different.

I was worried that it was only getting hype because of the entirely Asian cast and that there was potential for me to be disappointed because I absolutely loved the book. But I actually really loved it. It was sweet and funny and I felt like it really did an excellent job of capturing the heart of the novel.

I just watched the movie yesterday. For the first time ever, I decided against reading the book first so that I won't compare it to the book too much. I enjoyed the film very much, especially how they incorporated mahjong into it. Now I'm off to read the book!

I'm so excited to watch a Hollywood movie that takes an under represented cast and has them as the main focus.

I loved the movie so much. It almost felt like watching a kdrama but with a more diverse Asian cast. I also liked that it was faithful to the book.

I actually really liked the book and preferred the movie ending to the book ending, which is crazy because I am normally all for the books being better than the movies. Seriously cannot wait for the second one to come out!

I watched it but I didn't like it the least bit, it screams typical.

I love all his books as well! They are page-turners. I had no idea there was a new movie upcoming, so now I am just as stoked as you are.

Yes, I was quite excited at the beginning but for some reason the excitement died down.
