Last movie I watched was The witches, the 2020 version. I don't even know what rating is appropriate. It was really silly, but Anne Hathaway was absolutely fantastic so that saved the movie for me. For what it was trying to be, 4/5. Realistically though, it's a 2.5/5

I saw Raya and the Last Dragon which is an animated film by Disney. It was really great and colourful. I liked the characters and related to them immensely.

The art of racing in the rain...

As a lover of animals, I haven't cried so much in a movie since watching Eight Below! But there were also tears of appreciation and I found the story to be inspiring and beautiful in many ways... I bought the book and am looking forward to enjoying the tale in a written format (as soon as I am up to it). I think it is a unique film to watch and perhaps learn a lesson or two about our approach to life when things get complicated...

10/10

So I watched Snake eyes in the cinema yesterday.I was obsessed with the G.I Joes when I was a kid , that I watched it countless times without getting tired of it. So let's talk about "Snake Eyes", a spin-off and origin story which serves as a reboot to the franchise.

This movie disappointed me.
It had only two jobs: give us some solid action scenes and a well thought out storyline for the origin story—it failed on both!... I'll get back to this in a bit. Henry Goulding was alright, so was Andrew Koji, who both played Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, respectively. They wasted the rest of the cast! How do you have Úrsula Corberó, aka Tokyo, Samara Weaving, and martial arts sensation Iko Uwais, in your cast and not make the best of them? That's like leaving out the special seasoning for a dish. Corbero looked so cool as Baroness. She looks the part and feels the part.
So the problem with this movie wasn't the actors...

The problem was the writing & the cinematography. The storyline was poorly developed. It was a mess. I don't know how they expect the audience to like a movie when the hero is so unlikeable. Henry Goulding's story arc as Snake Eyes does not draw the audience to his side at all, and that was a dumb choice by the filmmakers. Secondly, asides from the fact that the story is different from the source material, the main plot felt weak, lacked logic and begged a few questions. In this film, Snake Eyes goes from a street fighter to full ninja mode without any evident physical training.

As we all know, when the story fails, the action feels meaningless, but hear this, it gets worse...
Before going into this movie, I was aware of how much training and intense fight choreography that went into making this film, so I know they put in the work. Unfortunately, the whole experience was ruined by the epileptic cinematographers that were hired for this job. All the fight scenes were so difficult to watch cos for some reason, they thought adding the shaky camera effect was gonna make for an incredible experience. NO! It did not!

So I also watched Wrath of Man in the cinema. It
is a Guy Ritchie film and is based on the 2004 French film "Cash Truck".

I personally think the acting is fantastic.
Asides Jason Statham, this film stars an interesting cast with so many familiar faces, from Scott Eastwood to Jeffrey Donovan, Josh Hartnett, Laz Alonso, Raúl Castillo, Andy Garcia and Nigerian actor, Babs Olusanmokun...From the moment I saw Holt McCallany, who plays Bullet in this film, I knew what we were getting from his character. The score in this movie is so mesmerising, there's no way you won't notice it. It's that good!
The action is intense and brutal the kind we all expect and want from a good action movie.
The guns, the sound and film editing is top notch. This story is told in a non-linear fashion, which sets you up with different parts of the story that ultimately come together in a culminating third act full of guns, lots of guns.

But I also noticed some flaws too. The movie felt long, and the story felt unnecessarily convoluted. Also, this movie felt somewhat soulless, and that's mainly because the main character wasn't well rounded in terms of emotional connection and character development; his connection with his family is almost zero. Throughout the movie, you don't really feel a thing as an audience; you know Jason Statham is not going to die, you know he's gonna get the bad guy, so you just watch to see how the story unfolds. When it's done, you leave the theatre feeling rather flat, neither overwhelmed nor underwhelmed.

Overall, for a revenge action thriller with a heist set-up, "Wrath of Man" is effective and grossly entertaining. It feels different from Guy Ritchie's quintessential filmmaking style, but it works.

And I will rate the movie a 7.0

I watched 'The Last Letter from Your Lover' on Netflix recently. I picked the movie because I love Shailene Woodley's acting. She looked gorgeous in her role as a 1960s socialite. Felicity Jones on the other hand acted as a quirky and socially awkward journalist. I didn't recognize the male actors.

I knew the movie was based on a book but did not know whose until the end credits rolled...it was Jojo Moyes! I loved her 'Me Before You' book. The book had me laughing out loud one moment and crying the next. I thought the characters were brought to life by Emma Clarke and Sam Claflin in the movie.

Comparatively, 'The Last Letter..' did not evoke such extreme emotions thus I would rate this movie a 6 out of 10. I hope the book would be better.

The kast one was See you Yesterday. It was a time travel movie and it centered around the shooting of a young African American by high strung cops. MchaelJ. Fox also makes a brief appearance in the first couple of minutes. Alright for kids although a bit amateurish.

My last movie was actually a 1-hour long Buddhist animated film of the real story of Guatama Siddartha, also known as the Buddha whom people follow today. I really enjoyed the depiction, the awesome animation and the plot/story of the movie. I'd rate it 10/10 because it opened my eyes to the non-permanence of everything, i.e. life, pleasures, attainments, you name it. it is an eye-opener for sure and it is available for free on YouTube.

I finally got around to watching Godzilla vs. Kong this week and thought it was pretty good. I was expecting a bit more interaction between the characters but enjoyed the movie none the less. I would rate the movie 7/10.

I watched The Kissing Booth 3 today, mostly because I wanted to finish the trilogy. I actually went in thinking I would hate it since I didn't like the second one but this part was a lot better. Though most of the first half was taken by summer activities Elle and Lee wanted to finish before they went off to college, what annoyed me was Elle's indecisive in which college to go to based on her boyfriend and best friend.

I was quite pleasantly surprised at the ending and by the decision Elle made for herself. I think it was satisfactory in terms of all the characters and although I know some people are hoping for a Kissing Booth 4, I don't really think the story needs another sequel to tie whatever loose ends are left.

The army of the dead directed by Zack Snyder, and need I say am not a fan of horror movies and even much less a zombie kind; but Zack won me over with a fantastic movie beginning.
I rate it 8/10.

The last film I watched was "Raya and the Last Dragons." I've been interested since the first time I read the title, just a few months before the film premiered. It's so great to watch! Little Noi and the three baby monkeys are so cute! Of course, Raya's pet Tuk Tuk is lovable too. I love hearing the way Boun promotes his cooking, very memorable. Sisu is innocent, but her faith is praiseworthy. Personally, rate 10/10 for them.
