The House of Sand and Fog made me want to read the book - and I'm glad I did, but I think this is one case where the film was actually better.

Twilight is the first movie that really made me want to read the book, but also the anime Howl's Moving Castle made me want to read the books and manga. They were all very good in my opinion. :)

There are a number of books that I want to read because the movies are coming out soon and I want to read the book before I see the movie, like Ready Player One.

Other books I want/ed to read because I saw movies, Beautiful Creatures, vampire academy, Bourne Legacy.

2001 A Space Odyssey made me want to read the book just so I could understand what on Earth was going on.

"Me Before You" by JoJo Moyes. I loved the book too, but since I saw the movie first, there wasn't that magic part where I see the characters as I imagine them, but instead I could only see them as they were in the movie.

Cloud Atlas. I loved the movie because every time I watched it I noticed something I hadn't noticed before. The book was so well-crafted. Unfortunately, I couldn't picture the characters the way I wanted, since I already had a visual assigned to them.
