That Movie was a Book First?
One thing that really surprised me about both movies was the fact that they were both based on books! Books I would have never chosen to read if I had not seen the movie first.
I loved the book version of Jurassic Park by Michael Crighton. I know the dinosaurs in the movie were altered to look better in the film than they probably did for real, but seeing the movie first helped me visualize the creatures in the book.
I'm sorry to say I never did finish reading The Princess Bride by William Goldman. I just couldn't get into the story as easily as I could in the movie. Maybe one of these days I will pick it back up and finish reading.
Has anyone else been surprised to find out a particular movie was actually a book first? Which one??

They also made War Horse into a play, and it is really fun!Kathryn Price wrote: ↑07 Jan 2018, 21:08 War Horse did that for me. I saw the movie and was walking through the library a few months later and saw it on the shelf. I also had no idea Jurassic Park and Princess Bride were books until after I'd seen the movies. Princess Bride is a good book, but some parts are dry. I almost put it down a few times, but it was worth finishing.

Whaaaaat?!!!!! I'll have to check it out, I love the prestige.AbbyGNelson wrote: ↑20 Jan 2018, 22:09 I was surprised that The Prestige by Christopher Nolan was a book. My brother read it and apparently it is VERY different from the movie. He actually likes the movie better in that case.

But be aware that it is super different from the movie, so definitely manage your expectations before reading.
