I love both, but with a horror movie you tend to find it's the music that make it's chilling and more creepy that it actually is. You know it's a good horror story when words alone can generate a sense a fear.

The mind is amazing.
Reading a book works with the best chip ever: The mind.
The argument here should be when you read the book does your imagination better that of the movie.
Personally, yeah, sometimes the directors do better than my mind. But most times, it's better in my head. So, I'd go with horror books.

It doesn't matter which one. Both are no go areas for me, basically because they both get me scared.

It depends on how our mind takes the story. We can imagine while reading books or we can just led the movies take over our imagination.

I think a really good horror book has a long-lasting psychological impression. It's easier to identify a good horror book because people don't hype it up without good reason. Movies, meanwhile, people tend to respond to for immediate terrors (jumpscares), so you'll hear a lot about a movie even if it's not as deeply terrifying. In the end, though, I think a really good horror movie has the ability to use more of your senses to enforce that impression. Plus a movie is more likely to be experienced in one sitting, so it's easier to get the full experience.

Horror books leave everything to our imagination and our imagination can go wild without any boundaries. But if the scenes of Horror movies are not effective enough then they can be disappointing.

Probably the book in that there is no holding back on the gory details. Movies these days try to play it safe despite the ratings. Probably because they're scared of the controversy they'll get if someone gets a heart attack as a result of a scary scene.

I prefer to read horror. Watching a blood bath doesn’t interest me, though I would say that the original The Shining Film was better than the book.

I like both horror movies and books but I'm more horrified by the horror books because its your imagination that brings the characters and events to life not like in movies where its the directors imagination that plays in

I prefer horror movies to books/stories. Seeing the horror scares me more than imagining it.
