I haven't read the book but I saw the tv show. It was good for a few seasons but after that it just got worse and worse. I didn't even want to watch the last season. I just saw the final episode and that was it

I have watched both 'the Vampire diaries' and 'the Originals' series bit i must say it's been an off and on love affair for me. Sometimes the shows dragged a bit and it sremed like they were struggling for a story line. I think it's for the best the ended the show (Vampire diaries). However much i will miss the cast. But i gotta say the tv show was waaaaaay much better than the books. The books just seemed to be a bit busy too many things happening...something was missing.

I saw the TV series, but I don't think I ever finished watching it. I still want to read the books if I ever get the chance too. That would be so cool to marathon the books and the TV show!!!

I was a fan of the show but ready for it to be over. It doesn't make me want to read the books as I heard they are very different.

I was a huge fan of the show!
I actually started reading the first book in the series before I started watching the show, but I never could get into it. I felt like Elena in the book was not the type of main character I would enjoy reading about. But with the show, I liked her personality. I hated to see the show end, but I'm glad I stuck with it until the end.

The tv show is definitely better than the books. Which is rare. I prefer the Originals as it is less about love triangles and more about fighting.

I watched the series before reading the books. I much prefer the show over the books. Damon and Stefan are portrayed so differently, as are all the other characters in the books, weaker and pitiful in the book. The only things that stayed the same are the names of the characters and how everyone would sacrifice everything for Elena.

I watched the show and I liked it until Elena left... after that it wasn't the same.
I haven't read the books because from what I know she stays with Stefan and back then I was a big fan of Delena :D

You know they always say that the books are better than the movies, but that is not the case which Vampire Diaries. I found the Vampire Diaries TV series much more enjoyable than the book series (probably because I have a huge crush on Ian Somerhalder who played Damon). The TV series takes a sharp turn from the direction of the book, and I loved where it went. Now, I have watched all of the Vampire Diaries and the spin-off Originals, I do have to say that it was painful to watch toward the end of the series simply because characters were dying then coming back to life every episode.
