I liked the TV show a lot, before Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev broke up and it kind of ruined my galloping imagination of real chemistry between them. But the books were confusing, to put it mildly.

I love both the Vampire Diaries and the Originals. I wish they would both come back for more episodes. I've only seen the show, but would be interested in reading the books.

I haven't seen any episode of the Vampire Diaries? Is it really any good? Also, is it as good as the Originals?

The books are not as fantastic as the on-screen adaptation in my opinion. The flaw in the televised series however was the drawn out plot, the focus on Elena and the deluge of drama.

I loved that The Originals gave a little more (mostly ficitional) 'history' and that the characters each underwent something instead of singular crises, however.
And in the end, we were all just humans... Drunk on the idea that love, only love, could heal our brokenness.

I'm a vamipire diaries fan, ( the tv show though) but luckily, while reading through these comments I have come to know that there's a book about it. The Tvd show was amazing from my personal view. The characters did play a lot of roles which kind of confused me but it was okay towards the end. I'll now look for the books to read because sometimes MOVIES LEAVE OUT THE BEST DETAILS IN A BOOK !!!!

The books that started the series are great. I don't have any interest in reading the books that came out after the initial series. The books and the show are different creatures entirely. I do enjoy both. But after awhile TV shows start adding weird character arcs and characters that aren't even in the books.

I really liked this. Only half way through the final series though. Need to catch up and see the ending still.
I also liked the spin off, the originals.

I do have to say I have watched the Vampire Diaries series about 3 or 4 times. The only part I do not like in the show is the season finale ending. I didn’t agree with it but I would still watch it over and over again. I am also a big fan of the spin off the Originals it is so good. It might even be better than VD. I have yet to read the books but I will start today, I usually love the books better than the shows because of the detail you can’t really compare.

I've seen some episodes but not enough to really comment on the quality. But the few that I have seen seem kind of like recycled material from other things I've seen not tv and in movies and books

I've watched all the seasons of Vampire Diaries and I've loved each one. The characters are intriguing and the plot is captivating.
