Funnily enough, I cried while reading Fault in our Stars but not while watching the movie. The other book that made me cry from page one was Johnny Angel by Danielle Steel.

TFIOS, the movie made me cry. Tthe book didn't, even though it's one of my favorites.

If you want to cry your eyes out until there's no tear left in your body, read Flowers for Algernon. It'll destroy you.

I cried while reading and watching The Fault in Our Stars, possibly more to the movie. My Sister's Keeper was a different story, I bawled like a little baby throughout the book and barely shed a tear during the movie. The movie ending was so much different than the book that I was too pissed to cry.

The Color Purple. I cannot get through the book or movie without bawling like a baby.

Same with Beaches & Beaches 2.

No,I don't, even the strong Inclusion of emotional element would only drive me to sympathy and fear in both.

I just get so into the books because I love the emotion the characters are displaying in ink. In a movie you may not always know what a character is feeling or thinking which makes it less of an emotional train wreak for me.
The books always get me and sometimes the movies, but usually just because I know what is already going on!
I agree with you, this series had some emotional parts. I felt that the way the actress portrayed Tris was done really well, and she had me tearing up a time or two.

The Fault was sad but I don't remember crying when I read it. I didn't cry in the theatre, either. I remember when I watched it at the cinema, this girl behind me had to announce that she was gonna cry when a particular scene was on

It doesn't matter if its real or cartoons, I always cry at the end of the movie. I think the cartoon movie that made me cry the most is Home.

There’s a book called Me Before You - they made a movie of it recently - and I have to say the book was much better. Not in that the movie had bad acting or it missed important plot details (because I loved the movie). However, you always learn more about the characters in books rather than movies. Not going to lie though, the book and the movie get me every time.
