I actually thought I was the only one who found the movie not as exciting as the book. The book honestly gave me more chills than the movie.I was more than disappointed when I watched the movie. I felt like they didn't give their all to it like in the book.

Sorry to say, but it is true. I loved the movie. Yes, I know I may be one of the only ones that liked the movie. The books were awful to me, because of all the grammatical errors and the story wasn't all that polished. Going from fanfic to book is awesome in itself, but I think the publisher should have edited it more. I like the characters, but I think the story could have been done so much better. I think most people were expecting an X rating when then went to see this movie.
It's funny that you say that because I know quite a few people who were disappointed there wasn't as much S&M as there was in the books. :text-lol:

The books weren't so bad to me. Then again, I just read them because I wanted to do a compare and contrast to Twilight.

I think fifty shades darker had a few sex scenes as compared to the first(fifty shades of grey) didn't like the ending though :cry2:

I am with you on this. I thought the book was not interesting at all. The characters had no grow to them and Anastasia seemed like this person that was not real. I get that this is a book but there was no logic to what she did. She just when with what ever christian said. Then we move to christian who was not mysterious or sexy like why was all this darkness around him if he actual when through all of the things they claim he would not be this sane. The movie was worst it just took what the book which was not entertaining to begin with and then just rush through it.

I felt the films didn't do the novels any justice. Any sort of plot that made the trilogy interesting was stripped away or exaggerated. The films have been a huge disappointment, hopefully the last one will live up to its hype.

All of your comments are exactly why I have NEVER watched the movies. I loved the characters in the books and I don’t think they could get the emotions across in a movie without cutting out the important elements. Based on all the disappointment on here, I am so glad I stuck with reading. I would read them again in a heart beat. Nothing beats the Christian Grey I have created in my mind!

I read all the books in the series and loved them. When I heard that there was to be a film adaptation i was super excited. All that excitement went up in smoke after watching the first - Grey. In the book the scenes were much more intriguing and but with the movies the character lines fell flat and dead.
And in the end, we were all just humans... Drunk on the idea that love, only love, could heal our brokenness.

I read the trilogy and I was disappointed by the third film. The last book in the trilogy was the best in the whole series and they messed it up. I now prefer the book rather than the film.

The book was a hot mess, some of the worst writing, ive ever seen,,,but it was a hoot. The story and the movies got better where Fifty Shades Freed was the best of the three.

ShaneDevante wrote: 02 Jan 2017, 22:25 I read the books to understand the hype and outrage surrounding the books, because I'm a firm believer in hate/love it for the right reason. I'm not going to lie. I was rather appalled at Fifty Shades of Grey being considered a best seller considering the severe lack of research on the part of the author, the awful spelling and grammar, and the weak characterization. The book didn't reflect BDSM at all, and it had far too many unfortunate implications and subtext which left a nasty taste in my mouth.

The movie improved on these considerably, because they removed a large chunk of what made the books intolerable. The movie, for its focus on sex, actually made them appear somewhat normal, sane people who enjoyed safe, sane, and consensual kinks as opposed to the unfortunate implications in the books wherein the subtext read as a manipulative sociopath of a man taking advantage of a weak, naive woman. So, I do think the movie was better as a whole.
I agree with this. There's little/no research done while writing this. It's like it's based on just what the author knows. I'm disappointed in both the movie and the book actually. But what an we expect from a fanfiction of Twilight right?

I've read all the books and I've seen two of the movies. I didn't really get the hype of the books because they were poorly written. However, I liked the underlying plot minus all the sex. The movies did away with a lot of the sex but the plot seemed to fall flat in the movies.

I personally think the movie was not as intriguing. Total disappointment! I would not even watch it a second time. While reading the book, I had created the perfect image of everything in my mind and that's how I expected it to be. Sorry to say but I also wanted grey to be someone hotter than that😂. Anyways, they tried and I think most of the things in the book, they couldn't find for it was more of fiction.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" book is well written and when I saw the first two movies, I liked them because they were made quite well too. But the third movie disappointed me. The third book was so good but they were not able to make the movie like it.
