I agree completely! The book is more of an individual interaction. It takes time to think about what is happening and digest Heller's satire. That's not movie material.

You're right. The movie took just a glimpse inside the characters and the motives. A lot of it seemed disjointed because so much was left out. I would enjoy a mini-series, too! Good call.hartsocktr wrote: ↑08 Oct 2016, 16:17 "The Shining" It was entirely different from the book. Even Stephen King hates the movie. Usually, it doesn't bother me, but the book is truly more terrifying than the film. There is talk about a Mini-Series adaptation that Stephen King will help direct and write the script. I hope that happens!

I never read the book because I am really not a Stephen King fan, but I love the movie... I may be partial because Kubrick is my favourite director I don't think Kubrick wanted it to be really an adaptation, but more as a separate form to tell the same story - that's how I see it. It may be a poor adaptation, but it's definitely a good movie, in my opinion.

The Chronicles of Narnia while lovely movies were great books and did not need any movies made out of it.

The movie was beautifull in it's own way. Yet for me didn't entirely capture the magic that the book had created for me.TAC wrote: ↑07 Oct 2016, 08:44 I love to read so it's hard for me to say I have ever saw a movie adaption of a book I read that I thought "wow, that was true to the book" because you loose so many details from the book, but maybe that's my imagination adding details as I read.
I will say, though not as good as the book, The Fault In Our Stars movie was pretty darn close.
