From what I understand, Gone nearly had a series but was passed over after Stephen King later wrote Under the Dome. I'm still eternally bitter about the fact that his book, even though it was clearly inspired by the Gone series, was given a television deal and Gone ended up not getting one. It just seemed rather unfair because it was based wholly on King's popularity and not the merits of both books.

A series I'm desperate to see in film, though, is the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. I could die happy.

I agree with others. "The Night Circus" would be amazing as a movie.

I would really like to see The Young Elites by Marie Lu as a movie or TV show but with a good cast. Most of the characters in that book were POC and I'd hate to see my favorite characters whitewashed. But it was such a fascinating series that I think it would make such a cool film!

I would love to see a well-done movie adaptation of Raphael Sabatini's novel Captain Blood. It is the original swashbuckling pirate novel. There is a 1930's film version starring Errol Flynn, but it doesn't really follow the book, just uses the basic idea.

Okay, call me old but I would love to see the three books that follow Willow be made into movies. For those that were not aware that the books were even written they are listed below. For anyone that loved the movie Willow I would highly suggest reading the other three books to see how the infant Elora Danan turns out and how powerful she becomes. Not to mention what happens to the Nelwyn Willow Ufgood.

Not sure how many knew that the movie Willow was a novel by Wayland Drew that was based on a screenplay by Bob Dolman from a story by George Lucas. So George Lucas was a part of all the Willow series.

Shadow Moonn by George Lucas and Chris Claremont
Shadow Dawn by Chris Claremont story by George Lucas
Shadow Star by CHris Claremont story by George Lucas

I'd like to see Shards of Honor, the first novel in the Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold, adapted into a film. Hollywood needs a new space opera franchise, and the Vorkosigan Saga is an excellent candidate, with rich worldbuilding, strong female characters, and a well-developed and engaging hero.
