Icon What's your favorite southern dish?

Post by Melissastubbs843 »

I'm just another lady from the South, who enjoys cooking. It gives me such happiness to see the smiles of my family after a nice home cooked meal. One of our favorite southern dishes is fried green tomatoes and fried okra. I know there have to be some dishes out there that I haven't tried to make yet. So, that's where I hope I can get some ideas from all of you. :eusa-think: :tiphat:

I actually just moved to the south and am interested in learning more about southern cooking :) grits are new to me and I've been trying different variations on them. I also just made a tart berry cobbler that didn't last long, everyone wanted some!

Hi, Melissa. I really like Ree Drummond's recipe for "Funeral potatoes". Have you tried those yet? She named them that because they are the perfect casserole to take to a bereaved family. Talk about comfort food!! These are delicious- for any time. :D

I grew up in the south and I totally agree! Nothing makes me happier than seeing my friend's and family's faces light up when they try my cooking. Baking too! My favorite southern think to make is biscuits with sausage gravy.

Fried chicken and chicken pot pie. Cant get enough of that. And warm biscuits with gravy. The best comfort food ever.
