I love a Mexican book from Laura Esquivel, Como Agua para Chocolate or "Like Water for Chocolate" in English. It's a romance, fiction with a little bit of magical realism containing a lot of good recipes. I would say it's the most important part of this book because they use food to represent the character's feelings and emotions. One of the most famous recipes from Tita's cookbook is Quail (or chicken) in Rose Petal Sauce (Hailee and Ross).

The recipes are detailed in a very special way in the book as each chapter begins with a recipe. Helpful if you feel like trying them.

I remember the BFG book my 5th grade teacher read to us and to celebrate our completion of the book she treated everyone to a round frobscottle. Years later I opted to sample food from some manga series I was introduced to. Haven't gotten around to restaurant style ramen but have sampled a variety of other treats from Japan.

Thunder Cake (by Patricia Polaccos)! It's a chocolate cake that uses tomatoes as one of the liquid ingredients. You can't taste them at all, and it makes the cake super moist.

And lots of stone soup. I was obsessed with in in elementary school, and my mother still has two stones sitting in her pantry.

In books no, but man, anime will make food look so delicious. Am I the only one obsessed with food in cartoons?

I'd like to jump into Eat, Pray, Love and try the rigatoni bolognese and tiramisu.

After reading Green Eggs and Ham to my children, we made them. They discovered that they weren't any different than regular eggs and ham. But it was fun for them to find out!
