That's totally what I do too. glad you wrote this. haha

It depends on who I'm cooking for and what I'm cooking. There are some dishes I prepare from muscle memory and some that I need to follow the recipe to the dot. I prefer the ones that let me just throw things in there and still tastes nice.

I am definitely a hybrid. I would have the recipe and the ingredients I would need, but I usually work from there as it suits me and I may add, leave out or swop ingredients that I think will together.

I usually don't follow any recipes while cooking.

Hi! For cakes and other pastries, I follow the recipe down to a t but otherwise, I like to improvise and experiment with different recipes.

There are some recipes that need to be followed strictly, like in baking. However, apart from that I’m an experimenter.

I tend to cook the way I quilt.....the pattern is a great place to start and then you can make it your own. Same with a recipe....great place to start and then make it your own. Use your choice of protein, not necessarily what the recipe calls for. If the recipe calls for vegetables that you do not care for, substitute your own favorites. And the same with herbs and spices.

I’m always an experimenter one. I always base my cooking on my desired taste.

Do you follow recipes to the letter, or make it up as you go along?
Or do you mix the two?

I tend to do both, but usually experiment more than I follow recipes. Even when I use a recipe, I tend to change things to suit myself. :cooking:
I love to experiment. But I have noticed that most experiments turn out to be horrible results. I wish I follow the rules must strictly but unfortunately this is such a struggle I keep fighting every single day.

i do more of experimenting to following the recipe. Because i think it feels good when you invent your style.

I experiment a lot. But this will mostly depend on what am making. Some meals require strict adherence to recipe while others have room for experimenting

I enjoy recipes. However, I love doing stuff out of the blue. Experiments are very good and help me to be creative.
