Re: Short Story Contest 1 - "Billy's Coloring Book"

Billy and Monster love all the holidays as they get to spend quality time together. However, their best holiday is Easter as they get to eat their favorite food...CHOCOLATE!
This is a nicely illustrated story which gives a lesson in an entertaining way. Billy and his Monster go to Grandma's for Easter and eat too many chocolate eggs. Billy learns that he needs to eat in moderation.

The story was written wonderfully but I can't seem to understand the last part. Anyway, the writer seems to write this story very creatively.

I think the author has left the last part to the imagination of the reader, you can make what you want of it. Initially I thought , Billy is a little boy but after reading through completely I think Billy is a man who is in prison and serving a term. But all in all it is a good read.

Very unexpected ending. I like that in a story.

Wow! Amazing story with a surprising twist! Billy morphed from innocent little boy to orange-jumpsuited death row inmate in the blink of an eye! I sure didn't see that coming  However, I wonder if Billy really understands what he did to land himself in prison, and it makes me a little sad, because I can't help imagining that Billy is mentally handicapped.

I liked it! Sounds like Billy was going to his execution and was trying to remember his last beautiful moment...

It left me with a scrunched up, confused facial expression. I predicted some type of twist trying to relate in coloring as a kid and not once remembering ever mixing colors and knowing off the top of my head what colors made up brown or peach. Maybe it is because I was just spoiled with a 64 crayola pack that I didn't have to make my mind work like that. Intense story. It seems the author definitely service their purpose in providing a cliff hanger, but this seems to leave you hanging with no sense of direction in which to fall, float, fly. It was too open-ended, but then again I could just be frustrated because I don't get it.

Wow, amazing story! I read the entire story through; I loved it! And I also have a sneaky feeling I do understand what you're saying... though I might be wrong.

The story is written beautifully, with great descriptions. I love it!
