Like a mother hen protecting her chicks from the danger. In such little words, this book has said a lot about the love of a mother.

The story is very interesting, and very eventful most of what I like about it, is that you are able to picture the whole event as if you are really there in the scene. the only part that I don't understand is why she would have to go back when all of you were just far from the soldiers.
nonetheless, good story

Was a good quick short story of tragedy. would like to read more about how the sister and brother continue to move forward without their mother. The story drew you in pretty quickly.

This is real! This is love in its purest form, a sacrifice only a brave few can make.
For I know the thought I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, not of evil, to give you an expected end.Jeremiah 29:11

Sad story that shows a mother's sacrificial love for her children that led her to taking a difficult, selfless decision that was supposed to be good but became risky in the sense that it left her children defenseless prone to being killed along with her ,It also left her children shattered without defense

An extremely moving and dramatic tale that may be felt during times of war and strife. Readers are hooked into the story right away because of how well you employed sensory details to evoke a sense of dread and anxiety.

"Amidst the chilling darkness of a small village during the Congo Civil War in 1982, a young child's harrowing journey of survival unfolds. The author adeptly captures the protagonist's fear and confusion as they are abruptly awakened by approaching danger. The mother's selfless sacrifice and the protagonist's unwavering determination to protect their sibling drive the narrative forward. Vivid descriptions and intense scenes create a palpable sense of chaos and terror. The introduction of the elderly widower and the kindness of the villagers provide moments of hope amidst the tragedy. This gripping tale serves as a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable adversity."

I found "No sweetness here" to be deeply engaging. Its simplicity delivers profound and meaningful thoughts, demonstrating the power of brevity in narrative. The open-ended interpretation invites a personal connection, and it leaves a lasting impact. This piece beautifully exemplifies the strength of concise yet profound words. 😊
