It's okay DATo, after years of repeating the mantra to offspring that people who overuse profanity are usually painfully at loss for actual communication...I've had to resort to various uh hem..."urban" dictionaries to better understand my work environment. Surrounded by twentysomethings and contractors...it seems if you string the "f" word every third word and add an "m" word here and there for variety...and that's just when they're bustin' chopsDATo wrote:WOAH. Hold the horses. Are you kidding?
I totally agree Artdude !!! Of course, I don't say anything worse than "Hecky-Darned" ... BUT I SAY IT WITH GREAT EMOTION!!!!Swearing is extremely important - it is important to use it properly and to enjoy it, like any other turn of phrase. Why is swearing somehow base or below standard?
EDIT: Wait a minute ... I forgot what the thread subject was. Yes, I make lists of words I am not familiar with and even scour the dictionary for them (how sick is THAT?) and then methodically attempt to commit them and their definitions to memory. My vocabulary is getting really .... ummmm.... really ...... ummmm .... [:-I .... ???? .... GOOD !!! yes, "good" was the word I was looking for.

No, no, no, no, no... Haven't you seen "The First Wives Club?" The "F" word is "FELONY!" There, you've just been educated by a man of the world.

"Ennui" - what a cool word! I'd rather say that than "boredom."Fran wrote:My all-time favourite word in ennui, I just love that wordNathrad Sheare wrote:Concisely put, Dream Catcher. Do you have a favorite word? Is that a safe question to ask? One of mine is 'prestidigitation'... Anyway...
