I like laying down while reading just before bed, though I spend the most time reading while I commute on the train to work. I suppose I could read anywhere and it would be okay :)

I read in bed often however I do not prefer it. When I read for long periods of time I am constantly moving. Start laying in bed, switch sides, lay on my stomach, eventually move to a sitting position in bed. So I prefer sitting or on the couch.

I try to stay sitting up or propped up on my pillows. To many bad experiences with falling asleep reading a hard covered book and getting smacked in the face.

For me it is better if i read while sitting up because if i lay down i get sleepy and that makes me not want to read the book so i have to read while I'm sitting up or else ill just be reading the same sentence multiple times.

I curl up in a comfy chair with my book and a blanket. If I lay down I will fall asleep, and I only read my book standing up if I'm at the library trying to figure out if I'm going to borrow it or not.

Every which way! In the tub, in the bed, in a chair, in my car on my lunch break.....sigh. I've even read at stop lights when I just couldn't wait to find out what happened next. Sad, huh?

It's no wonder I have strange aches and pains, what with all the contorting I've done over the years :)) But it's always worth it!

I end up alternating. I will start out sitting up, then I go to laying on my back, before long my arms are sore and I have to lay on my side, then my head hurts so I have to start over. Never just one position. :eusa-naughty:

I mostly read laying down, but at times when I want to reach a set goal and there's the tendency for me to sleep, I sit up.

I do not have a preference for either. It depends whether I am using my phone or a book, in which I usually lie down but on my laptop, I have to be seated.

I like to read sitting up at my desk. I have yet to fall asleep at the desk.

Other than for this website, I usually read paperbacks and hardbacks.

By the way, what is the best way to read while laying down? I guess maybe I could learn from you.

My best position for reading is the sitting-down-on-a-chair posture, with eyes focused horizontally on a book propped up on a table where my hands rest comfortably. Any other posture, I found out through experience, gives me a stiff neck, numb arms, or eye strain. Much better if your chair makes you sit on a cushion or soft pillow.

I had tried all the positions stated. ^_^ I could say, the best way to read is by sitting up properly. This won't work when you're tired. So, lying down takes over. ^_^

This lying-down position would necessitate holding up your arms to prop the book at eye focus. Your arms would numb after some time.

I almost always read in a reclined position with a pillow on my back. Although, I will read any chance I get.
