I know I am addicted because I can't go anywhere without a book and if I happen to find myself with a few minutes to spare without anything to read, I feel myself going into withdrawal! I also know I am addicted because when reading a description of a scene in a book, I can actually smell what is being described.

Or your punishment as a child (which mine was) was "no more reading! you broke the plate! you can only play outside, don't you touch a book!"
Sounds like my childhood! My brothers would get sent to their room; I would get sent out to socialize!

I know I am addicted to reading when my friends call and I tell them to stop bothering me and then hang up on them or when i refuse to go out on a Saturday night because I am too busy reading.

...you plan how you're going to spend your pay and instead of clothes and other necessities, you only write down 'books'.

How about... when you take a sick day from work so you can be first in line to buy the next book in a series you're reading?

When you've been up all night reading and you know there's exactly one hour left before you have to wake up in the morning and start one hell of a day;)

When you think like the main character in the story
Living out the scenes in your imagination, and in Real Life.
Reading for hours on end, ignoring every one around you.

Yes, I KNOW that I am a reading addict.

Hah, this is a hilarious thread. I usually bring pocket books with me when I know I am going to be out of the house for a while, or i am going to a place where I am going to be waiting around a lot, like school lol. I usually stuff a book in my bag so that I can read while I am waiting for my ride to come pick me up. What's sad though is she usually has to yell or honk the horn in order to get my attention away from the book. Now I have found my Kindle app quite handy for these situations. That's just what I needed, more ways to read lol. For me, I consider myself to be obsessed because I actually enjoy organizing my books when I get new ones. I don't let anyone else touch them unless they are wanting to read one lol. Another reason I would consider myself to be obsessed is because, when some of my stuff was stolen on a vacation, I was more upset that they took my books rather than them taking all of my clothes.

You know you're addicted when all you want to do in your spare time is read, and when you don't have any spare time you cry because you can't read. Also you know you're addicted when you have a fear of running out of books to read.
