I have read other reviews before writing my own, but I don't make a habit of it. I don't like knowing that someone else's opinions might have colored my own, especially in a situation like this, when someone might be paying to read my reasoning.

I read other reviews only after writing my own. I like to compare notes but want to avoid being influenced beforehand.

That's a great question. I've never read someone else's review before writing my own. I want to give my own honest opinion of it and not be influenced by others.

I tend to leave other reviews alone before I read a book. I like to approach the book with an open mind and create my own experience without any outside influence. After I read the book and write a review, I like to go back and read other reviews to see what others thought of the book.

It's why I write it first, otherwise I know I would be influenced momentarily by what I read :? But I almost never change what I wrote because I mostly try and take notes while reading if I have intentions to review something.

I do this too. And then, I don't read all the reviews on that book.

I read other people's reviews about a book even before I choose a book to review. This helps me make an informed choice since some book descriptions don't give enough information.

I try not to, I'll read it afterwards as a means of seeing differing opinions, but I don't want their review to influence what I have to say. If everyone says the same thing, there's no reason why Reviewers need to exist.

I usually do not read other people's reviews before writing my own. But if I feel like I couldn't write the review because I am stuck in my mind, I read other people's reviews to get an overview till I get my mind cleared.

I'm new here so I did check on my first one. The good thing is I had my review written, so I was just making sure I was on the right track. Besides, I skimmed those reviews I checked out.

for me I read the other reviews first to have an idea about the writing style I want to follow, usually when I read other books that ideas starting forming in my head about what I want to write and which style to follow

I was just thinking about this yesterday, so glad I found this post. I always read the reviews after I've submitted mine because I want it to be truly from my own perspective. Sometimes I've read other reviews and thought, "Hey, mine is okay." Other times I've thought, "Wow, really messed up on that one."

Not really. But I do re read the summary other peoples wrote. To get an idea how to describe the book without any spoilers. But I read reviews after I write my own and I find it interesting the different point of views that we have.
