In 2009, the drug overdose story of the year was Michael Jackson, who had taken a lethal mix of opioids, benzodiazepines (highly addictive anti-anxiety medications and sedatives that are a frequent complicating factor in many overdoses), and the anesthetic propofol, injected to force sleep.
