Hello! I'm new here. I enjoy reading because it soothes me to just sit back and escape into another person's story. I enjoy many genre and look forward to this experience.

" A reader lives many lives, while those who don't read, only live one."

I love living another persons life for a short period of time, I enjoy being teleported into another world and imagining a more magic alternate reality.

There is something more personal and fulfilling about reading compared to other media. The main problem of literature is that it lacks in the aesthetics part, because of that some things could only work outside literature, but even so, reading is still intuitive for the mind in its own way.

People have asked me many times over the years why I love to read, and why I chose to major in English. I have over time formulated a simply answer: God speaks truth to people in different ways. Some He speaks to through science or nature, some through other people. For me, God speaks truth through literature. Not that this takes the place of religion, it is simply a "love language" which speaks to me more than other everyday encounters.

To improve on my grammar, it's also part of my leisure since being idle influences negative thoughts, make's me get more familiar with authors and other books

I get easily bored. Every book has something, whether poorly written or the Jane Eyre of all books. So I read for that something. Even though movies are interesting, books tell the true story - full and raw. I like that I can visualize my own characters and a scene in my head, and appreciate that books are the only things that can totally ensnare my attention.

I like to read to gain knowledge about things. I enjoy reading to escape form stress and unwind. I find reading very relaxing and that is why I don't like the horror genre because that is not relaxing at all. I enjoy the mental exercise that comes from reading mystery and whodunit novels that keep me guessing who the villain is till the very last page.

Because words are beautiful when properly used. A good writer can make me smile or cry or laugh. Books have been part of my life since I was three. I'll read the back of a cereal box if there is nothing else in sight.

It's kinda sad, but when I was young I HATED to read. Now that I'm an adult I practically eat books for breakfast. I think I enjoy it because it gives me the opportunity to travel the world without paying thousands of dollars (Though you haven't seen my Amazon account). Sometimes its nice to escape, even just for a couple hours.

Reading takes me places I could never otherwise go.I get to see into other lives, feelings, and beliefs; better than a movie.I get to see what I see,not what someone else saw. Sometimes I find expressed something I knew or felt but had not yet been able to put into words. For much of my life books were my only companions.

:techie-reference: I like to read because I think book characters, and writers in general, are easier for me to relate to than people I meet in real life.
It is also an escape because I tend to find life itself overwhelming at times.

I love the character deepening. Not many movies could do this.
In books, they describe the character's personality, emotion, thoughts beautifully.
I could learn English grammar and add new words to my vocabulary.
Although my reading pace is slow, I really love reading.
