First two books completed for 2019 (carried over from 2018).

Flaubert's Parrot by Julian Barnes - wonderfully inventive and beautifully written, challenging established norms about the form of a novel. 4 stars out of 5.

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil gaiman - a good fun romp about the impending end of the world. 3.5 stars out of 5.
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green.

4 out 5 stars. Intriguing premise and good at the small details--author gets a bit distracted by wanting to talk about how fame affects people and countries become too divided, and the way it's written like a young 20-ish year old woman is spot-on, but a bit grating at times.

I just finished The Street Lawyer by John Grisham. It was a bit slow for me at first but I ended up absolutely loving the complexities of the plot and how the character grew throughout the book based on the events that unfolded. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. It challenged me to research the law and my interest for litigation and drama in the courtroom grew exponentially by the time I was finished with it.

Calenture by Storm Constantine. Definitely 5/5.

It was just so wildly imaginative and surreal, with a lot of metaphorical and philosophical content. I didn't want the adventure to end!

The Writing Diet by Julia Cameron. It is a very insightful and charming book full of advice to improve your creativity while shedding some unwanted pounds. I am happy to rate it 4 out of 4.

Hello,
I have read "Man's search for meaning" by Victor E. Frankl.
It is a book about the life of people in concentration camps in Germany.
A sad memoir.

Two more books completed today.

617 (Going To War With Today's Dambusters) is a detailed look at the operation of the Tornado 'fast jet' 617 Squadron RAF, which has the proud heritage and honour of being the original Dambuster Squadron of WWII fame.

Definitely one for those fascinated by the world of fast military attack jets and the people who fly and maintain them. 3.5 stars out of 5

Winner of the 2008 IMPAC Dublin literary award, De Niro's Game by Rawi Hage is a visceral, fascinating insight into the complex world of factional, ethnic and religious conflict in the Middle east in modern times.

Set mostly in Lebanon, with the final portion set in France, the story follows the chaotic and nihilistic lives of Bassam and his close friend George (nicknamed De Niro) as they do what they consider necessary to survive and thrive in war-torn Beirut.

Hage's writing is colorful and urgent, maintaining a grip on the reader, and provides that rare insight into an unknown and chaotic world where a different set of values apply that are unfamiliar to Westerners. 4 stars out of 5.
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.

Some questions answered and in ways I never would've expected...and...

Just read "THE IMPOSSIBLE IS POSSIBLE" by John Mason. Doing what others said can't be done, it really changed my way of thinking and my life in whole.

It touched on some issues that I never imagined, and brought it to light.

I give it a full 4 without even thinking about it.

The last book I read was Seven Minutes in Heaven by Sara Shepard. I would rate it a 4 out of 5, because while I didn't absolutely love it, it was definitely the best one in the series.
