It was Harry Potter for Christmas. After first one I kept getting one until the last. For Christmas, birthday, even just because. It was one of the best gifts ever, and one of the very few book gifts I have ever gotten. Even though there are seven books :)

Our older son bought me a new copy of Heart of Darkness, after borrowing my ratty old copy for uni studies. I was ecstatic, as it is one of my all time favourite books, and gets a re-reading every so often.

I usually never receive books as gifts because everyone knows how much I read and can never keep up with my preferences or even guess what I have read already or not. But I do love gift cards to bookstores and they are the one staple I always get for my birthdays.

My mum bought me Girl on the Train and it was brilliant! I used to extend reading time at school just so I could get a few more pages in!

The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs is my favorite gift received now. When I was younger the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordian my parents enjoyed it & got me the series. In high school it was the Shadowfalls series by C.C. Hunter. & the House of Night by P.C. & Kristen Cast because I put it on my birthday/Christmas list.

It was "Disciple's manual". It was given to me by my Pastors. This is my favourite and I read it times and again.

The boxed set of HP books. My mom bought it when only the first four books were released.

Liane Moriarty's latest book "Nine Perfect Strangers" because I wanted it so badly and my friend bought it for me as a surprise! I haven't read it yet, but it's next on my list!

I received a boxed set of The Hobbit & LOTR, but they're leather bound, pocket size editions. It's my favorite series so it meant a lot to me to have a special set of the books!

The best gifted book I ever received was The Witching Hour by Anne Rice. My mom gave me an autographed copy of the book as a birthday present on my 16th birthday. She loved the main character so much that she named me after her, Rowan.

I'd say street kid by Judy Westwater and for the love of my son by Margaret Davis they taught me at a you age that evil exists in this world most times in places you least expect.

My father presented me with "1984" by Orwell in my youth, and I think it majorly influenced my vision on politics, social order and definition of freedom. Later I got "Animal Farm" and was blown away.

A recent book I was given which I really loved was "The sense of an ending" by Julian Barnes. It was not a "learning" book but a gem of literature, and it certainly influenced my writing style.

As a child I was given the book Anne Green of Gables and honestly I liked reading before that but never really excelled in it and found it quite a chore. Suddenly my world was opened and ever since I just adore reading and writing. Also it was a gift from my nanny she is such a sweet soul to me so it brings back the best times for me every time i reread it.

I have a very stupid, funny one called Tequila mockingbird a recipe book for cocktails based on books.

But my favourite fiction book that I have been gifted has to be the Misfits by Charli Howard. My sister knows I've been struggling with mental health and eating disorders. It was the perfect book to give me courage to seek help and begin to work through my own issues.
