My favourite quote is 'You have to be a reader before you become a writer.'
I always feel reading is better than writing although I enjoy both. Even when you write a blog or a article, it will depend on how well you research and that involves reading up.

I prefer reading but I do write to let out my emotions and skills.

Reading all the way. It is funny because I thought I wanted to be a writer because of how much I loved books but I realized writing wasn't my thing.

@ Elac, I agree with you. I'm just useless with writing. You would think that after the amount of books I have read, it would come easy, but not with me. I must admit it's sometimes quite frustrating to me.

I love writing, but it doesn't come as easily to me as reading does. When I am reviewing books the reading part always happens so naturally, but the writing part is more of an effort.

I love reading; it's a way of escape and a way to calm my mind. Writing requires some effort to actually sit and do some work

I love both, but I prefer writing for different reasons. With reading I love novels and some books about personal growth. With writing I enjoy the same way but only if I am writing in a diary or to express my thoughts on something. I do not think I am one to write a novel unless its about my life story.

Writing can be great fun but also anxiety inducing since you are in control and want to make sure it's great. Where with reading another person's books, if you don't like aspects of it, it's not a big deal because no one expects you to fix them. Sometimes I'll do more reading than writing, sometimes more writing than reading.

I enjoy writing but I LOVE to read! So reading wins for me. There's nothing like getting lost in a good book.

I really, really, really like both ! I read on the daily, but I also write as a journalist so this is a difficult question; writing also happens to be my favorite activity for "solace." You could never write well if you don't read, and I'm not entirely sure you could read without the appreciation of words you get from writing. I'd say they're complementary, even (although not mutually exclusive).

Your habit is interesting. I think writing helps you express your feelings. I like both, but writing is harder for me.

I like reading more, because I can turn off my brain while doing it.
