Have you ever read a book to a child?

Post by Rosemary Okoko »

I enjoy reading books to children and sometimes i wonder if other people do the same. Would you give an excuse not to read to a child?

I enjoy hearing my son read more than I enjoy reading to him. Only because I can see how well he's come on with his reading. He doesn't really read to me anymore though, he likes to just get on with his book, I've create a mini bookworm :)

It's even better when they let you read in peace because they want to read too :)

I don't have children but I do babysit a lot.

I have read to the kids but I really like it when they want to read to me their newly found favorites or some of their own original stories. (I like drawing so I always try to bring along a notebook, spare markers or pencils (not going to sacrifice the prismas) and inevitably drawing leads to mini-book making!)

Sometimes to get out of reading I say that they read the story better. Or we do an alternate ending bit if it's been the same book more than a few (10) times. Almost always works.

Yes I like it so much, especially when they contradict or need more clarification.

I used to read to my son all the time. He's not nearly the reader that I am, but he does read.

I often volunteer at literacy campaigns and it is one of the most rewarding things to do. Through the reaction of the audience, your inner child comes alive again :)

I have never read to a child, I am very selfish when it comes to reading, I just want to be alone and enjoy the story.

I love reading to children, but not many kids that I know enjoy books the way I do. Mostly, I read small books with very little words. I hope to someday find a child that I can introduce to the world of reading.
