Of course. If you know a child, you should read to them and/or with them.

Yes, I have some students who are learning English. I read stories to them partly to enjoy and partly to learn words and sentence structures.

I don't think I have no. But I'd like to.

My babygirl is only 5 months old, so I still only sing to her. I read for my boy who's 3 years old, he can't read still, but he memorizes parts of the stories from the many times he's heard them :wink2:

I love reading to my nieces and nephews! I once got a phone call from my sister asking me to read an excerpt of a children's book to her over the phone because she was trying to read to her children, but she was "apparently ruining the story" by "doing the wrong voices".

:lol2: Amazing! Kids are unpredictable, but it's so sweet at the same time. They simply really appreciate your style of reading. Reminds me of "Mrs Doubtfire": but Daddy, she doesn't do voices... and she smells funny.

I read to my step son nearly every night from the age of 3 until he was old enough to read himself. Now, he is 9 and loves reading.

Yes! I've always loved reading books to my nieces and nephews and always find that, especially with some of the children's books, that reading to them helps me rediscover how much I love those stories!

I have a little sister and I read a lot to her when she was a bit younger and I read to my cousin as well, who is about the same age as my sister. I like it a lot and wouldn't mind doing it again if I ever have to babysit again

Yes, I have read to a child on several occasions. I just love that bright spark of interest in their innocent eyes as they look up.

I don't usually read books to children but I'll gladly do it on request.

I once tried to read Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire to my young cousin, but she was NOT interested. I have however read other books to children I have worked with though

I do love reading to my daughter but I try to stay away from fairy tales that promote damsel-in-distress syndrome. Being a Shakespeare fan, I can't wait for my daughter to grow up a little and then we can read Romeo and Juliet together.
