I have a hard time letting go of a fantastic story, so I'll start reading it again from the beginning. In some cases, I get a sort of "good book hangover" and live in a fog for a day or so while thinking about what's to come for my favorite characters.

I experience a sense if emptiness like people I love have been ripped away from me. Sometimes I cry and barely function for a while before coming back to reality or moving on to another book. If the series has any novellas or short stories, I read those too.

Emptiness, but the feeling only last for a few minutes.

When I get to the last page of a great book, it makes me feel sad that it has come to an end. Especially if there is an amazing plot or if you connect with the characters. Although you could read other books by that same author to get the same writing style, the book is not going to be the same. I always think, "Wow, I'm done with that book and will never read another like it", because we know how different books are, even if they are in the same genre.

It's not just a feeling, there comes a mixed flood of feelings when I turn the last page of a great book. I feel happy, sad, crying. I feel like I lived the story and every character in it, and everything going to come to an end.

A bit of remorse, but then I remind myself that there are other great books out there and they'll find me and I'll get that high once more.

I feel closure because you know how the book ends but at the end of that I feel sad.

It can be sad knowing that the character you connected with ends there, but also fulfilling in its own way. Especially when the ending is good.
