When I loan a book, I just as well kiss it goodbye because I never see it again.
My Gram used to teach us to never loan or let someone borrow something unless we didn't want it back because people do tend to forget where they get things from. It was sound advice and it makes it easier to let others have things.
Your grandmother was a wise woman :)

I did borrow a book from a friend one time. The Art of Racing in the Rain. What a great book it was. I gave it back to him in a sealed bag without even so much as a bent corner or smudged page.

I have never sold a book, even the ones I had when I was little I still have to read to my kids someday.

Yes, I flip yard sale books. It is like playing Santa's elf, especially when making gift baskets with them.

I have found that cookbooks and fitness books sell the best.

Yes, when I moved. Didn't make a dent in how many I had to move.

When I moved, I donated a bunch to a thrift store.

Long before that, I had quite a collection of Stephen King novels plus quite a few others by different authors. I donated those to my local library. They were more than happy to get them.

Now, I'm starting to accumulate books again. I get great deals on eBay and Amazon. This isn't necessarily a good thing.

Yes, I did! But only books that I didn't like - we all have those. If I don't like it, I don't see the point of keeping it. But the ones I like are forever!

I would only sell if I did not like the book and needed the money badly. Otherwise, I would either give it to a friend or donate it. The books I really enjoy I could never part with.

Yes I have. They were mainly textbooks that I had no intention of keeping or novels that I did not like.

I have a few times, but only because I really really didn't like the book. It was sad nonetheless.

Yes. But only once. I needed money to help with a family emergency. If it hadn't been life or death then I wouldn't have done so.

I'm very sentimental when it comes to my books so I don't think I'm ready to sell them yet.

I don't think I'm capable of this, as I'll keep a book even if I hate it!

If I am really in a bind, I don't like it, or I accidentally have multiple copies I will sell/ donate books. But for the most part that doesn't make much of a profit.

I never did! Can not even imagine doing this. If keeping the books in my house is really impossible - which once happened with a huge stack of a children's magazine I used to read since childhood- I prefer donating them to local libraries.

Yes. I've sold used textbooks from college and novels that I know I won't read again. It's a great way to make space for new books and bank a couple bucks in the process.
