I have sold duplicate signed copies of books (that were not personally signed to me) because I understand how rare and special those can be for people. Other than that I normally donate my books to the charity shop when I am clearing out things.

Yes, I 've sold a few high school textbooks that I was sure I would never use again, except for some History ones. As for novels, I've sold two or three that I had to read for Literacy that I didn't like nor did they seem interesting enough.

When I was between jobs a few years back, I sold books online to make ends meet. Before it became "a thing", I could pick up great books at thrift stores and yard sales for a quarter or less and resell them for much more than I paid. I found some first editions in very good shape that I kept for myself but I also found many books that were in demand and people would pay quite a bit for them. Theses days, the thrift stores have started charging a lot more for books and it's better to just pick up those you would want for yourselves. I don't know if it's still a good way to make extra money since so many people started doing it. But, for several months selling books online paid my rent and saw me through that stressful time.

I sold only textbooks I knew I'd never need again. Kept all my foreign languages books and would never think about selling any fiction book. It would feel like selling a part of my soul.

I have if it's not part of a collection or a series. If it's a book I've already read and know I will never pick up again then I don't see the point in keeping it in my bookshelf. Plus, that gives me more space to buy new books to add to my shelves.

Why not? I've sold some to a used book store to clear off space on my shelf for new books.

All the time.
I'm a published writer so I sell my books, not necessary in order to make money, but I do.
I'm an ebay powerseller, I'm also what they call a dealer at library book sales. I go and come back with 20 bags of books and sell them on ebay to people who are looking for specific series or editions.

Yes. But only as a last resort. And I felt strangely upset, more so than when I sold my jewellery. My books are all in boxes in the garage and not even on display, but still feel part of me.

Only my used college textbooks from classes I know I'll never take again. I hoard everything else though.

I have sold back my books to used book stores. I don't reread them and don't want to throw them away.

I sold the Fault in Our Stars because I knew it would sell. I didn't want to, but sometimes that's life. It's weird because it's not in its spot, and I haven't put another book in its place, though. :?

Yes, I sold my books which are prescribed in the school syllabus. And, I bought new books with the money.

Sell a book? Why? They need to be shared and loved. Reducing their value to dollars and cents is ridiculous.
