There have been so many others in between. Growing up I used to cry at the end of long books or series just because I'd knew I'd miss the characters.

What sets apart the books that make you cry? Affection for the characters? Style of writing? Are people who cry when they read books just more emotional?
I’ve never read The Bridge to Terabithia, but the movie made me so sad that I don’t think I ever should... I think that many things influence what makes a person cry at a book, but it all comes back to the author 🤷‍♀️ Good writers make good books.

Oh, so many books have made me cry. I am emotional like that. Some of the best ones though are:
"The gift" by Danielle Steel
"White Chocolate moments" by Lori Wick
"His brother's bride" by Denise Hunter
"Invitation Only(the whole private series)" by Katie Price
"Ugly" by Magaret McHeyzer.
And finally, "the fault in our stars" by John Green
I have read many others that made me cry but these books stand out.

I would definitely be with you on this, and was never too into children's stories or that of Harry Potter... The only book that ever made me cry, however, was really "The Catcher in the Rye," and when Holden is talking about himself going down and down everytime he got to the other end of the sidewalk. He say's he would pray to his dead brother to keep himself from going down and down when crossing a street, but it was very touching actually and authentic. It was definitely something that would make anyone really teary eyed, but that's what I think.

The Toilet seat by Latha. It is a non-fiction book. The harassment she felt by the people she knows when she was young really made me sad. I felt bad for her. Though, I oppose some of the ideologies present in the book, I accept most of them.

There is a book I read when I was a kid. The book was titled 'The Poor Christ of Bomba'. It talks about how young convent girls were sexually abused and infected with diseases by convent boys

A Little Life made me sob because it was overall such a triggering experience to read it; I felt obligated to finish it so I did. I'll admit that it took me a while to recover from that, though.

Generally, I don't really cry over books (or movies).

I cannot think of a single book that ever made me cry, but I'll take a look through this forum and see which books evoked strong emotions from others, as those may be worth checking out.

There is so many I can hardly count them, I'm very emotional and sensitive to others pain. I treat book characters like friends when I'm reading and when they're sad, then I'm sad too. The most recent one is from an m/m book called Thrown off the ice by Taylor Fitzpatrick. That ending was brutal.

Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. The two ladies named Catherine and Cathy suffer a lot at the hands of one man. Unfortunate circumstances and poor decision-making result into heartache. How could I not cry? Emotional torture makes me cry generally.
