I've read that one also, and I hated the ending! I mean, I understood it, but that didn't mean I enjoyed balling like a baby.

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, it is a young adult romanc-y type novel (and series), but I just found the simple 'human-ness' that she gave the characters to be remarkable. She not only made the characters relatable, but also had the reader become very attached quite early on to both the characters as well their circumstances and problems. The other books in the series made me cry as well, mostly for the same reasons. I love the entire series, but the first book "Shiver" is definitely one of my all-time favourites.

Dear John made me cry. The plot is just so sad with a bittersweet ending. My heart broke for John.

I can't remember a time I ever cried whilst reading a book...

If it has a bad ending or bittersweet ending, I mostly feel frustrated, lmao!~

However, I got really emotional when reading one book - True Star written by a Chinese author. The books is actually in the Chinese language. I got emotional and I felt for the MC, but I didn't cry.

Love Aubrey by Suzanne LaFleur had me bawling the entire book; the way it dealt with emotions was very well done. Modoc by Ralph Helfer made me sob at the end, it was so sad but also perfect.

No book has actually made me cry and i don't think any ever will. Books has to do with words and alot of those words i have come across over and over again, so i don't see how tears could fall out of my eyes because if that should happen am just going to think am ill. Maybe a new type of malaria whose symptoms involves crying (lol)

A thousand splendid sun by Khaled Hosseini. It has two strong female protagonist. The story was set in Afghanistan before, during and after communist occupation. The never ending hardships of both female protagonists especially Miriam made me stop reading the book. I could barely turn a page without crying like a widow. But I successfully finished it after some years.

Searching for David's Heart had me in tears and I was only in elementary school at the time. It touched on the death of a loved one and the characters affected by the tragedy. I still own my copy and plan to share it with my kid(s) when they're old enough to enjoy it.

Old favorites from childhood can get me misty with the warmth of familiarity. For some real nose-running, hoarse-throat bawling, I'd suggest a Cormac McCarthy like The Road or All the Pretty Horses.

I cried when I read To Kill a Mockingbird. I read a book called War Brides and cried in that one.
