I have silently cried, hysterically cried, and happily sobbed at a book more times than I care to admit. The worst that I have cried might have been The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I mostly just cry at small moments for a minute or two but when I was reading this book it was probably for the last 50 pages.

"In the place of justice" by Wilhem Rideau is an incredible autobiography - an articurate but heartbreaking story of a life of incarceration in the infamous Angola prison in Louisiana in the face of blatant racism. And yet such a positive spirit to the end.

I haven't cried really much with books, in fact, only one book has made me cry which is Casual Vacancy by J K Rowling.
I think that this book that makes you really feel and connect to the characters of the story, drives you to feel like they do, and when you relate so much to the characters, events in a story like this one can really get to you.
I'm not in any way saying that other books I've read haven't been as good, but from a personal stand point, I never felt such connection with the characters as with this book.

Actually I think it depends hugely on the topics of the books and the personal experience each person has to be touched by certain books to the extent of actually crying. I, personally, have cried a lot while reading, because I am very sensitive and whenever a sad or touching scene is there, I cry easily. Some of my friends have never cried while reading a book and doesn't get how it is even possible to cry.. :|

I think the first book I really cried whilst reading was when I was about 10 or 11 years old, it was Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman. I remember reading it under my duvet in bed when I was supposed to be asleep and trying not to wake my sister up.

I have read A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks several times. I have seen the movie adaptation several times as well. I cry every single time.

I remember the first time I have ever cried reading a book. I was in study hall in 10th grade and I was reading "Looking For Alaska" by John Green. I won't spoil anything, but let's just say I didn't finish the book for a VERY long time because I was so emotional :(

The one book that made me cry the worst was Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. I think I cried for two days as I was reading that book. It ripped my heart out and stomped on it.

Yes! I just read this last year but I knew how it ended and the closer it got to the end the more emotional I was.
