1. The Chronicles of Narnia (C.S. Lewis) Because, really, I can't imagine my childhood without these books.
2. His Dark Materials (Philip Pullman)
3. Harry Potter (JKR) Obviously.
4. Age of the Five (Trudi Canavan) I recently discovered these and became sort of addicted.
Did I mention I like fantasy?
Fantasy is my favorite genre!

I remember reading Sideways Stories from Wayside School. They were so funny! I always felt sorry for Todd. No matter what he did, he always got sent on the Kindergarten bus.speechless wrote:1. Harry Potter- speaks for itself, doesn't it? I think it's amazing how J.K. Rowling managed to create an entirely new world. Those books are addictive.
2. The Princess Diaries- ten times better than the movies. Actually, I've only seen the first movie, but the second movie had nothing to do with the series at all. *shakes head* The books are hilarious, witty, and kind of quirky. Plus, they're not as kid-friendly as the Disney movies portray them. It's more for teenagers (teenage girls in particular). Nowadays we need a new saying: don't judge a book by its movie.
3. Sideways Stories from Wayside School- yes it's for kids, but no matter how many times I read it I can't refrain from laughing. The very idea of a builder accidentally building a school 30 stories high instead of one story with thirty rooms is hysterical. I'm kind of in the mood to read one now...

3. A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, which basically introduced me to the great love of reading.

Lord of the Rings
Song of Ice and Fire
The Saxon series by Bernard Cornwell
If not, add the Riverworld series in its place.
Honourable mention to The Dark Tower series.
And couldn't add Wheel of Time because technically it was incomplete.
