If I am purchasing the book myself I buy paperback. I have many hardcovers, but those are gifts from others usually. Either way I don't mind. Although, it is easier to carry around a paperback!

Paperbacks work well for me

It depends on where I am at the moment.
Paperback for reading in bed... and Hardcover if I am forced to sit up at a table or desk.

Prefer hardback for ones I know I want to keep and read over and over.. general reading always paper back as they are easier to handle and less weight to carry when out and about .

I do prefer hardcovers since I'm not the best at keeping books in good condition

Paperbacks are easier to read in public transit, however if the library book is in hardcover only, then that will work too.

Paperback because it fits in my bag and I can carry it with me to more places.

Hands down, paperbacks. They travel easily, I can curl up with one anywhere, and they weigh less. But hardcover books are obviously awesome too!

Definitely hardcover. The bindings are more flexible and I hate reading a page that's curved. I also hate bent or torn pages and I tend to dogear paperbacks for some unknown reason.

paperback. no question. bendable, more comfortable to hold.
when they get beaten up they look well read and worn, whereas a beaten up hardback just looks messy. worst is if you have a book thats over 500 pages they tend to fall apart.

I love both, but honestly, I prefer hardcover, even if I am traveling and taking the book with me on vacation, I prefer hardcover. the feeling of holding a hardcover book in my hands, it's stiff and beautiful. Especially in my case cause though I love books unfortunately like all my books I have books from my dad first edition from early 1920's, the pages are yellow with leather hardcovers written in the Armenian language.I bring a couple of ones with me from Beirut Lebanon every time I go there, they are thick heavy but could see how well protected they are, some are romance, others psychological or patriotic but can't easily found nowadays. , I removed them from his library to mine. So precious for me.those are mostly hardcovers hmm. I am not so careful and delicate with anything around me , i swear i try to be careful lol I think it is a matter of taste but the best part after I am done reading the book and place the hardcover book in my library, it is beautiful.

I prefer paperback because I read in bed quite a bit and feel that's easier to do with a paperback. I also like carrying books with me when I travel so prefer the lighter paperbacks.

For me, it doesn't really matter what the book os made of. I amore concerned about the actual book, if I would even like it or not. Although most of the time, hardbound books are more costly, but I believe they will last longer.
