I own both paperback and hardback but find I love paperback over the hard covers. I do agree with previous comments that paperbacks are more susceptible to wear and tear. Although sometimes that wear and tear comes from re-reading the book multiple times. I would definitely say I am team paperback all the way!

I prefer hardback books. I have OCD, I hate how paperbacks get bent, torn, or broken spine. I hate also when you hold a paperback with one hand, and the pages slip through your fingers. Majority of the time I will purchase the hardback. The only time I will purchase a paperback is when I cannot find a hardback.

I'm neutral. I value a book by the story inside.

I usually gravitate towards paperback, but if it's a really special book that I want to endure, I'll invest in the hardback.

I prefer paperback, but even more than paperback, I enjoy e-books! I'm one of those that believe that the less you carry with you in life, the less stress you'll likely gather as well. E-books are just as good as normal books, in fact, I find myself reading faster on a Kindle than on actual books, so, bonus points for that.

Nothing like the feel of a good paperback in your hands.

Kind of a tie? It really depends on the book i'm reading or where I am. I generally prefer the hardcover but lately I'm finding myself reading more paperbacks books, it's easier to take around even though they don't look as pretty as hardcovers in my library.

Hardcover, because of their durability.
I dislike when the creases form in a book's paperback cover page from my pulling/page turning.

I like paperback because it's lighter (easier to carry multiple books in my bag).

I prefer paperback because of the cost and they are easier to hold. After reading for several hours my hands tend to get tired with a hardcover. If it’s a special book (a favorite) I would opt for hardcover.

I have both, usually hardcover for presents and paperback when I buy them myself.
I would opt for hardcover it it is some special edition that is worth having, but otherwise paperback are not only cheaper but also lighter and little, so they fit always in my backpack.
In my priority, the story comes always first anyway; hardcover or paperback doesn't really matter.

It kind of depends. I like the sturdiness of a hardcover, but oftentimes, the paperback is more easily transportable.

I don't really care if my books are paperback or hardcover, but usually end up with paperback books because they are cheaper!

Paperbacks are cheaper and easier to stuff in a purse usually. I've got nothing to prove, lol.

Even though hardcover is more expensive, I definitely think it's worth the buy. I don't mind paperbacks, but I'm generally more used to hardcovers. Of course, the design of both covers can play a role as well. And obviously, the entire series should match--either all paperbacks or all hardcovers.
