Paperback is easier to bring with you anywhere, but there is something about a hardcover book that just hits right. My favorite series I have a copy of all 14 books in BOTH paperback and hardcover. I justify that because I go back and read and re-read this series every few years.

I enjoy both! Sometimes I will get both the paperback and the hardcover. I love to read in a hot bath, so I bring the paperback edition and keep the hardcover to read anywhere else. However, if I had to choose one, I would take hardcover.

I like both. I like paperback because they are easy to handle. I like hardback for when I go on trips so the book doesn't get torn up.

I'm not picky, thankfully I can even mix and match hard cover and soft cover in a series.

I prefer hard back. They don't get torn easily and I can lend them to friends without being worried that they will get torn up.

I honestly sway both ways and I appreciate how paper backs are light weight but they also get damaged or ripped pretty fast! Hard copies don't experience tear and wear that easily.
Either way, I love them both!

Because I have problems with my eyes, I prefer neither paperback nor hardcover but...reading on the computer screen. I am very sad thinking that the hundreds of books I own will never be read again by anyone since my son hates reading...

Paperback
Imagine if we had no secrets, no respite from the truth. What if everything was laid bare the moment, we introduced ourselves?

I have both. When it's a standalone or the naked cover is really pretty, then hardcover (also if I am collecting). Paperbacks with cute spines are a must for me. But most of the time, it depends on my budget haha

Personally, it depends on the book.

If it is part of a series and the others are hardcover, then the new one must be hardcover.
Wilbur Smith, Jeffrey Archer and John Grisham. It makes my OCD happy.

If it is extremely valuable, either financially or historically then it must be hardcover. Also if it is a gift for someone.

But if I'm just looking for a light read for bedtime especially, then softcover. Also for travelling. They are lighter and easier to hold in bed.

In my opinion, what matters most is the book itself. If it has an amazing plot and characters, I will read it, paperback or hardcover.
