I prefer hardcovers so that it will last longer on my bookshelf if I end up loving the book. Also, I hate the creases that form in paperbacks and one of my cats likes to lick the pages so they tend to become hard and stick up. However, if there is a big price difference between paperbacks and hardcovers then I will surrender to the paperbacks. :D

Probably Paperbacks, simply because the handling is easier when you are reading in different places/positions that do not include a table/desk, the increased flexibility does a lot for you.
Hardcovers are nice, but usually include a paper cover into which they are folded, and those paper covers are so annoying because while they do look nice, they slip off the book and get wrinkly or rip and ruin the whole look.

I'm gonna have to say both.
Hardcover looks better on the shelf but is more expensive
Paperback is lighter to Cary and handle and doesn't take as much space up on your shelf, it's also easier to put in a bag.

Paperback for price, but hardcover for durability. I do a lot of electronic now though so I'm not crowded out of my home and it's easier to take a lot of books on vacation.

Hardbacks are just that little bit more expensive which turns me off. Plus I remember accidentally dropping a hardback on my face as I read in bed which is probably why I keep to paperbacks.

Having limited space, when I read a physical book, it’s usually from a library. If I buy a book that
I will keep, then I prefer hardback and preferably an old one for the smell that you don’t get in new books.
I was mortified once when I took a brand new paperback from the library, opened it and the pages exploded out of it. I see paperbacks as a one read ephemeral book, great to take on holiday and leave there.

Paperback books can have a better cover design than their hardback versions and heck the price can be a good deal too.
But I feel like Hardback books are more sturdy and can endure things a little longer before gaining any damage from any of the many times you might read through it.

But both will always have that awesome smell that books have so I guess I'd be fine with either versions for my sets of books. It just depends on your main preference.

Both paper and hardback have pros and cons, several variables go into deciding which I buy. Hardbacks are sturdier and less likely to get torn, not to mention I love the built in bookmark of the dust jacket. However, they're heavy, more expensive, and take up more of the limited space on my bookshelves. For must haves, I usually get hardback because I preorder them and that's the only option. For new authors or ones I like but can wait on, I go paperback and try to pack them carefully when I travel.

Paperback, Hard cover, or e-book? I don't care, as long as it's a good read!

Hardcover if I'm relaxing, audiobook if I'm at work.

For starting a personal library or for preserving favorite book I like to keep a hardcover copy. Generally the books stay in a better condition when in hardcover. Though paperback books are typically cheaper and easier to come by. And in a personal opinion there is just something familiar and comforting in a paperback.
