It depends on the book. If I really like it, I want it in hardcover. That can be hard to find sometimes depending on the age of the book. I don't mind paperbacks. Just don't think they hold up as well as a hardcover.

I prefer hardcover because I hate when my books crease and bend. It is like a pet peave, but I also love how much cheaper paperbacks are. It's a give and take relationship with hardbacks

I really prefer paperbacks to hardcover books. I have carpel tunnel and it becomes very difficult to hold the hardcover for too long. Also, my laptop is also my tablet and it is a 15" so that also becomes a bit difficult when e-reading. So paperbacks all the way.

I prefer hardbacks. I like the way they sit on your lap and stay open when you're reading. I try yo wait until they go on sale at the book store.

Hardcover, if they are available. I somehow feel books deserve that "respect." :)

I would usually get a paperback because they are cheaper but for books that I find exceptionally good or for my favorite authors I will spring for the hard covers.

Paperback is much more convenient for taking around and there is something nostalgic about getting out an old book to reread with its slightly ruffled edges.

Wow, what a toughy! I love the way hardcovers look on my shelves (though, let's be honest, any book looks great on a shelf—ha) but there's no substitute for the way you can get comfortable with a softcover. They're much easier to handle.

When pleasure reading, I prefer a paperback I can throw into a purse and take wherever u go. I do a lot of used book trading and these tend to be paperback.
For books I intend to keep or collect, it is always hard cover.

Hardcover because I am actually trying to create a library in my house and I love the way they look on my bookshelves. But a lot of what I tend to read comes in paperback so I'm stuck there. Though I do enjoy my kindle and ebooks.

I prefer hardcover, even though I have both kinds in my library. I hate how paperbacks rip up so easily.

I like paperback. It's easier to take around with me, and to read on the bed, on the couch, etc. It you treat it carefully paperback can be as good as hardcover. However, now I often use Kindle to read:)

I really don't mind either. I buy a book I'm interested in regardless of the cover type.
