Paperbacks cause you can usually find them cheaper. I agree though, for those books that you just can't wait to read, hardback is perfectly fine.

If I had all the money in the world, I would buy hardcovers like there's no tomorrow, haha. I love them for their intricate detailing and it also gives me an enriched feeling of being lost in reading.

For me, I can use both. It doesn't matter.

I used to need the paper book in my hands when I was reading either hardback or paperback, didn't matter which. However, I read rather quickly and the expense of paper copies and where and how to store them became problematic after a while. My husband suggested that he get me a reader for Christmas one year, and I said no I like the feel of a paper book when I read. Later that year there were ads on TV about readers......one saying that it could be read outside in the daylight. I got to thinking that sitting on the porch reading with one might be nice. My husband laughed but purchased one for me. Now it's digital all the way for me! I have a major collection of multiple genres ready to read whenever I feel the urge to indulge in them. I still have some paper, but even my Bible reading is done digitally now.

I prefer hardback since the only physical books I purchase for myself these days are graphic novels or my most treasured reads.

That one is a hard question to answer. I would say both. Sometimes I like to switch back and forth. So I don't think I favor one over the other.

Hardcover is easier to hold, but the weight makes it difficult to carry around sometimes. I guess I could go either way.

I like the look of hardcovers and there are some beautiful ones, but the the dust jackets are easily ruined if you’re not careful. (I always take them off when reading hardcovers). They’re also not as comfortable to read.

Paperbacks on the other hand are cheaper (often much cheaper in the case of mass markets) and unlike hardcovers, look better with a little wear to them. They’re also more comfortable. On the downside, you’re gonna have to wait a little while after the book release to get a paperback because they normally start selling exclusively hardcovers. And this is more of a personal gripe, but it really bothers me how when you close a paperback after reading it for a while the cover sort of sticks out and doesn’t fully close. That might just be me though.

Library books I always check out hard covers. They hold up so much better and I’m less worried about damaging them.

For me to own, soft covers. Like most say they are just more portable and lighter.

Paperback all the way; easy to handle, easy to travel with and less weight.
Plus if I fall asleep while reading it won't fall so hard on my head : D

Greetings,

I prefer hardcover books to paperback books. I am not exactly sure why I prefer hardcover books over the paperback books, but I think that I prefer the hardcover over paperback(s) because the hardcover books seem sturdier, and possibly withstand time better than paperback books. Paperback books appear flimsy, and easily damaged. I also tend to prefer books instead of digital versions of books. I like the hard copy- I enjoy the feel of books, and I want to have an actual copy on the bookshelf.
