Depending on how much I am enjoying the book, I see it as though I'm watching a movie. In fact, If a book becomes a movie, I often don't remember if I saw the movie or read the book. The other issue is when a book becomes a movie and I've read the book first, I'm usually totally unhappy with the movie. I'm imagination is so much better than the movie.

Yes I do tend to imagine characters and locales as I read them. Sometimes I have been disappointed too when my imagination doesn't match up to their movie versions.

Reading for me has always been like watching very long and well detailed movie. So yes when you refer to it as seeing pictures, I think I do.

I always have flashes, I have no idea how to explain or articulate myself about what i imagine. Sometimes I see an animation or drawing in my head, sometimes its like a scene from a movie, sometimes it’s just pictures. I guess it depends on the writing style of the author.

It depends on whether or not the book is illustrated. If it is, I see their version of the world in the pictures/maps. If the book is well-written and describes scenes powerfully, who cannot avoid seeing scenes? Take Charles Dickens' work, for instance, who, with even a smidgen of imagination, cannot see Bill Sykes' end in Oliver, or Miss Havisham in her bridal attire in Great Expectations?

Typically, I get glimpses of scenes, but nothing that plays out in entirety as if watching a movie. That sounds awesome though!

I don't necessarily see the whole book but it's like flipping between reading and watching a 30-minute sitcom. I see some parts while other parts I don't.

Often, but when I realize that I'm doing it I try not to, I feel it takes away the experience of reading the way the author uses the words and builds sentences.

I see pictures in my head all the time while reading. It's like a reeling film projector.
And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. (Revelation 20:12 (NKJV) :reading-7:

I see it all very clearly. In fact, sometimes when I’ve put the book down, I think I’ve been watching the story on TV.

I do sometimes. rarely though. I need to be really engrossed in the story to be able to visualize it.
