Yes, especially if there are no illustrations in the book and it just lets readers interpret and imagine how the scene would play out in their heads.

Not always. Sometimes (depending on the author, I guess), I would imagine certain things in a more visual way. But for the most part, no. I function more on impressions when reading. Kind of like being in the story without actually having any kind of sensory perception at all.

I also see pictures in my head when I read books. It looks like a movie.Sometimes it happens even when I read non-fiction books. For example, when I read the books of Stephen Hawking, I see something like a starry sky.

It doesn't appear in a form of video play, but yes in some of the passages I see scenes going on... which I believe I understood most certainly. :lol2:

Of course I do. The whole seems to be playing at the back of my head like a movie.

It's really interesting that some people don't picture anything while reading. I see pictures, but they're really vague. I don't ever really remember details about the characters or setting so my brain kind of fills in the blanks.

Oooh yes I do. I imagine that I am at the scene of the incidence/action, more like a movie and this keeps me reading on and on.

Definitely. If a book is a real gem then it's impossible not to see the pictures cause the reader and author connection matter alot.

Reading through the replies makes me happy that I'm not alone in vividly picturing the characters and scenes in my mind while reading. It definitely depends on the writer's ability to flesh out the details though.

I almost always see pictures in my head like a movie while I am reading. It is one of my favorite parts about it. Sometimes it can be so vivid that I forget I am reading, and when I get disrupted it feels like I am coming out of a dream.

For almost every book I've read, I've seen scenes play out. I am able to see characters' facial expressions, how they talk, how they move, and etc. It's harder to do with nonfiction, but most authors are descriptive enough to pull it off.
